The tradesperson who asked me to help him with an Australian Antarctic Expedition application. “Have you worked at sub-zero temperatures before?” I asked, and the answer was “No” — but I was undaunted.
I carefully followed the application instructions, asked questions around the key criteria, was honest about what he could and could not do, and emphasised his skills, recent projects, flexibility and resilience. And he was successful!

I also helped someone whose company had been taken over and despite working hard for years and breaking into a management role, he had been demoted.
During the resume consultation I also helped to build his confidence again, to the point that he applied for a management role with the new company — he got the job and a 20K pay rise!
